This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in connection with the SwearGPS mobile application and the SwearGPS website (together, the “Service”). We have written it to describe what the Service may collect and why. Where a feature depends on a third-party platform or service, we describe it in general terms because the exact behavior can depend on that provider, your device, and the permissions you grant.
The short version: SwearGPS uses location data to give you navigation. We do not sell user data. Permissions are requested only when a feature needs them, and you can manage or revoke them at any time through your device settings.
1. Who we are
SwearGPS is operated by IRONCORE GOVERNMENT SERVICES LLC (“SwearGPS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@sweargps.com.
2. Information we collect
The categories below describe information the Service may collect or process. Not every category applies to every user — what is actually collected depends on the features you use, the permissions you grant, and whether you create an account or purchase a subscription.
- Location data — to provide navigation, routing, and related features.
- Device and technical data — such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and general diagnostic information.
- Account information — where account creation or sign-in is offered and you choose to use it.
- Usage and analytics data — general information about how the app is used, to help us find bugs and improve the product.
- Saved destinations and preferences — the places and settings you choose to save.
- Voice or microphone input — only where you enable and use a feature that requires it.
- Support communications — the content of messages you send us.
- Subscription status — whether an active SwearGPS Pro entitlement exists, as reported by the app store or payment platform.
3. Location data
Navigation does not work without location. If you grant location permission, the Service may access your device’s location to determine where you are, calculate a route, provide turn-by-turn guidance, reroute you when you leave the route, and support related features such as saved destinations and road alerts where those are available.
You control location access through your device’s operating system. You can grant location access only while using the app, grant it more broadly, or deny it entirely. If you deny or revoke location permission, navigation features will not function.
Where the Service uses a third-party mapping, routing, or geocoding provider to deliver navigation, location information necessary for that function may be transmitted to that provider and handled under that provider’s own privacy terms.
4. Device data
The Service may collect basic technical information about your device — such as device type, operating system and version, app version, language and region settings, and crash or diagnostic reports. This information is used to keep the app working correctly across devices, diagnose problems, and improve stability.
5. Account information
Where the Service offers account creation or sign-in, we may collect the information necessary to create and maintain that account, such as an email address or an identifier provided by a sign-in provider you choose to use. Account information is used to identify you within the Service, restore your settings and entitlements, and respond to support requests. If you delete your account, see the Account Deletion page.
6. Usage analytics
We may use analytics tooling to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, which features are used, where errors occur, and how the app performs. Analytics are used to improve the Service. Where analytics providers are used, they process data under their own terms, and we aim to configure them to collect no more than is needed for these purposes.
7. Voice and microphone permissions
SwearGPS speaks to you. Producing spoken guidance does not require access to your microphone.
If the Service offers a feature that requires microphone access — for example voice search or hands-free voice interaction — your device will ask for microphone permission before that feature can be used, and the permission is used only for that feature. You can decline or revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app will continue to work without it.
8. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the Service may send you app notifications such as navigation-related updates, road awareness alerts where supported, or occasional product messages. Notification permission is requested by your device and can be changed or revoked at any time in your device settings.
9. Payment and subscription processing
SwearGPS Pro subscriptions are purchased and billed through the app store or payment platform where you subscribe. Payment information is processed through those third-party platform and payment providers and is not stored directly by SwearGPS where applicable. We may receive limited information from the platform — such as whether a subscription is active, when it renews or expires, and an anonymized purchase or transaction identifier — in order to grant and maintain your Pro entitlement.
Billing questions, refunds, and cancellations are generally handled by the platform where you subscribed. See our Subscription Terms.
10. Third-party services
The Service may rely on third-party providers for functions such as mapping and routing, hosting and infrastructure, crash reporting and analytics, app distribution, subscription and payment processing, and customer support. These providers process information on our behalf or in their own right, under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy terms of the app store and operating system you use, since those govern a meaningful part of the mobile experience.
11. How we use information
- To provide navigation, routing, guidance, rerouting, and related features.
- To deliver the voice personality and humor settings you have selected.
- To save your destinations, preferences, and settings.
- To provide and maintain SwearGPS Pro entitlements.
- To diagnose bugs, prevent abuse, and improve performance and reliability.
- To respond to support requests and privacy requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
12. Sharing of information
We do not sell user data.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — with vendors who perform functions on our behalf (such as hosting, mapping and routing, analytics, or support), limited to what they need to perform that function.
- Platform providers — with app stores and payment platforms as needed to deliver and maintain subscriptions.
- Legal reasons — where we believe disclosure is required by applicable law, legal process, or a lawful government request, or is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or SwearGPS.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply to the transferred information.
- With your direction — where you ask us to share information or make it public.
Where you submit a community road report, information contained in that report may be shared with other users as part of the road awareness feature. Do not include personal information in community reports.
13. Data retention
We retain information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as required by applicable law. Retention periods vary by data type: operational data such as diagnostics is generally retained for a limited period, while records we are required to keep (for example, transaction records) may be retained longer. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete it or render it non-identifying.
14. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration — including the use of encrypted connections for data in transit and access controls on systems that hold user data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access to it, correction of it, deletion of it, a copy of it in a portable format, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Regardless of where you live, you can always:
- Grant or revoke location, microphone, and notification permissions through your device settings.
- Change or disable humor, commentary, and profanity settings inside the app.
- Delete saved destinations inside the app.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data — see Account Deletion.
To make a privacy request, email privacy@sweargps.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
16. Children’s privacy
SwearGPS is not directed to children. The Service is intended for adult drivers, and Unfiltered Mode contains adult language. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact privacy@sweargps.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
17. International users
SwearGPS is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and where the changes are material we will provide additional notice through the app or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
